Pegan Brooke is inspired by her natural and urban environments in Bolinas, San Francisco Bay Area and Ketchum, Idaho. Her paintings are intended to be parallel expositions of her video installations that explore the rhythmic patterns and the notion of light falling on water in snow, waterfalls, rivers and oceans.
Brooke has exhibited extensively, and her work is collected by the Guggenheim Museum, New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Des Moines Art Museum; the Swig Collection, San Francisco; and the Anderson Collection, Menlo Park, California. Her work has been widely reviewed, including Art in America, The New York Times, and Artweek.
